was officially inaugurated by Mr Vassilev, vice-premier minister of Bulgaria
and ex-member of the astronomical club Canopus, attached to the Varna Observatory
Copernicus. In spite of the poor conditions of the observatory before the reconstructions,
the students in the Observatory, led by their teachers, carried out many observations,
including meteor streams, transits, comets, variable stars, deep sky object,
etc. See, for example, the galleries Geminids&Comet

week Public astronomical observatory and planetarium “Nicolaus Copernicus” conducted
many events, connected with the space. During the whole week lectures
on astronautics were given. The Week was opened on Monday, 4.X, with
a competition for children's painting on the theme of astronautics. Kites
were set in the air and models of rockets were launched from the balcony
of the observatory. On Tuesday an astronautics' film was projected and
on Wednesday was held a discussion on the theme “ Extraterrestrial Bases:
Moon, Mars, Europa”. The course school year was opened in the sky theatre

with the lecture “From Tsiolkovski to Cassini” – about the history of
mastering space.
The new course year started
The new course year was officially started on 7 th October in the sky
theatre of the observatory. After the summer holidays, during which the
course-takers gathered every Thursday in order to discuss the news in
the field of astronomy, the courses are restored. The teaching of astronomy
will continue with the same enthusiasm on the side of the teachers as
well as on the side of the students, as they all hope to continue achieving
